What does it do?

From website (http://www.refworks.com)- \"RefWorks -- an online research management, writing and collaboration tool -- is designed to help researchers easily gather, manage, store and share all types of information, as well as generate citations and bibliographies.\"

What problem does it solve?

It would help patrons manage information. It is also one way to address the problem of plagiarism.

Is it the only product or service that does this?

No-there are others similar to it.

Will this require integration with an existing CARLI product or service?

What is the advantage of doing this consortially?

Library patrons throughout the state could benefit from this product. There may also be potential financial savings.

CARLI Actions on this Product

The PSVC recommended that CARLI begin negotiations to offer RefWorks as a brokered product. The Board approved this recommendation in September 2006. We will also survey the current purchasers in Illinois to see what other campus units they may be partnering with to purchase RefWorks.
