The timing of the Voyager upgrade

The ILCSO User Advisory Group (IUAG) discussed the timing of the Voyager upgrade for the Memorial Day weekend and the possible downtime for a few weeks. IUAG recognizes that 65 libraries will never find an optimal time that will work for everyone. We are fully aware of the enormous task that the CARLI Office staff are undertaking to reformat the data of 65 libraries to convert to Unicode and then to take us to a current version of Voyager (5 or 6) that is best for us and our users. We believe that the CARLI Office will do everything in their power to make the transition to Unicode and version 5 or 6 as seamless as possible. We support CARLI Office as they take us to the next iteration of the Voyager system.

IUAG and its committees and task forces will be working with libraries on possible workflow changes and workarounds so that we all can continue to function during the transition.  We will disseminate information about the transition on our listservs, forums, and conference calls.  

IUAG is excited about the new possibilities in the Voyager system and thank the
CARLI Office for working so hard on our behalf.
