Approval of IUAG committee/task force documents

The IUAG approved the Consortial Cataloging and Authority Control Committee’s document, “Best Practices for Bibliographic Records from Non-OCLC Sources” and Circulation and Universal Borrowing Functionality Task Force’s document, “Options for configuring links from SILC to I-Share OPACs.”  The CCAC’s best practices document provides recommendations for consortial libraries in dealing with vendor-supplied records, including the provision of system control numbers and restrictions placed by vendors on the use of records.  CCAC will be presenting this document at its Fall Forum on Wednesday, November 2.  The best practices document is available at http://office.ilcso.illinois.edu/Reports/iuagccac/ccacvendorrecs.html.

SILC document discusses the various options for configuring Statewide Illinois Library Catalog (SILC) so that it links link to the Universal Catalog allowing users can place requests.  It also provides step-by-step instructions on how to complete the linking in the SILC administrative module.  The document is available at http://office.ilcso.illinois.edu/Docs/silc_to_uc.pdf.

The End User Instruction Committee (EUIC) will offer five training sessions to instruct ILCSO/I-Share member libraries' staff in the deployment of tutorials developed by the committee and the use of Camtasia Studio software to create and modify the tutorials.  The training sites will be held in November and December and at these locations:  Heartland Community College, North Central College, Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, Columbia College and Eastern Illinois University.

IUAG continues to brainstorm ideas and/or possible speakers for the Voyager Reports (May 2006), IUAG Liaisons (April 2006), and Reference/Public Services (February 2006) forums.
