I-Share OPAC Team
Agenda for Thursday, July 27, 2006 at 2pm
Location: Conference Call: 217-265-9888
Agenda:
Minute Taker:
- In Skip’s absence, it’s Kathleen Conley’s turn to take minutes
Approve the minutes from 7/19/06
Initial article indexes
- How’s the testing going?
- Where will changes need to be made to help text in relation to this?
Managing enhancement requests
- Specific issue: if you do a browse search on the QuickSearch page than then drill down to the Titles page, the default search type in the "Search by" box in the resubmit-search form on the Titles page is "Any Word Anywhere," rather than the search type you actually performed. If you do a TALL or JALL or CMD search, the form remembers this. If you do a NAME+ or SUBJ+ or AUTH+ search, the form forgets. The user wishes it always remembered.
- General issue: how should we handle enhancement requests?
- Post a web form encouraging them?
- Keep a running list of potential projects on a web site or in our meeting minutes?
- Prioritize and then attack them one by one, or have several in progress at once?
Working on our current list of enhancement/development options
- See the list at: http://www.carli.illinois.edu/minutes/iopac/060719agenda.html from the last meeting
- One item we many not have addressed fully: adding the HKEY index to the list of “core” searches on the advanced search page
- Things that seemed high priority at the last meeting:
- Initial article indexes
- Skins
- New search types
- Spell checker
- SFX buttons
- Are these what we want to focus on? How should we proceed?
