Work Request Online

Work Request Online (WRO) is the web-based online system that I-Share libraries use to file work requests that are processed by CARLI Data Services staff. This online service offers filing, searching and updating functionality for work requests.

Work Request Online can be accessed from the URL below:

https://auth.carli.illinois.edu/wro/cgi/wro.cgi

Using Work Request Online

Getting into the system

Point your web browser to the URL above. At the login screen type your username and password and then click the "Logon" button.

NOTE: WRO does NOT require any additional plug-ins to the standard web browser configuration. (See the document on Browser Recommendations for a list of recommended web browsers.)

Each I-Share Library Director, Liaison, and Security Contact has been assigned a username to access Work Request Online. The CARLI staff person who creates the WRO accounts will supply the account owner with the username and password information. The first time you log into the system, you should choose the "Personal Information" tab to change your password and to verify that your phone number, fax number, and email address are correct.

NOTE: Security contacts will be able to process Voyager Oracle Account Request forms ONLY.

Options in WRO

There are four options (displayed as buttons across the top of the screen) to choose from once you are logged on to WRO.

  1. Add New Work Request
  2. Search/Update Work Request
  3. Personal Information
  4. Logout

Types of Work Requests

When you add a new WRO, you need to select the appropriate Work Request Type for the task being initiated.

There are currently more than 30 types of work requests available online. Forms will continue to be added as needed.

For details about what each WRO form requires, see Work Request Form and Purpose PDF Document.

If the type of request you would like to file is not specifically listed, use the "Other (not listed above)" form and enter the information in the notes field.

Filing a WRO

Except for the “Other” work request type, each work request has three sections/pages. The first page contains the contact information and type of work request. These fields will be populated by default with the contact information for the person filing the WRO. If a different library staff member should be the contact for the particular WRO being filed, enter that other person’s name, phone number, and email address in these fields on the first page of the WRO. Then press “Next” to continue.

The second page is the body of the work request. The different types of work requests will have different fields that must be completed, in order for the library to specify the parameters of the individual WRO. For example, the work request type for Voyager Patron Load will ask for the name of the input file, and which field in the records should be used for de-duplication, among other options. After all fields on the second page have been populated, press “Next” to continue.

The third page contains a Notes field where the staff member can add any additional information about the individual WRO. New work requests will also have a button for submitting the WRO, labeled “Add New Work Request.” If an existing WRO is being updated, the button will state “Update Work Request #nnnn” where the “nnnn” is the existing WRO’s number.

To navigate from one page of the work request to another, use the buttons at the bottom of the window ("Next" and "Back" buttons).

Closing your WRO session

To end the session, click the Logout button.
