Dates Time Directions This day-long CARLI workshop will give guidance on both curatorial and preservation matters for special collections when costs are also a concern. Registration: Required. Until 1 week prior to the registration closing date, one person per institution may register. Others will be placed on a waitlist. Registration is open now until workshop is full to any CARLI library staff on a first come-first served basis. The March 11 workshop registration deadline is March 3. The March 19 workshop registration deadline is March 10. Fees: This program is free to individuals from a CARLI member library. Travel costs and any parking fees are the responsibility of the attendee. Intended audience: Special collections and rare book curators and archivists, particularly those at smaller institutions, as well as other librarians for whom the care of small special collections fall within their job duties are encouraged to attend. Session description: Many librarians and staff have small special collections in their libraries with little to no training on their care. With limited budgets and staff, and for fear of doing the wrong thing, many are inclined to do nothing for the care and development of these collections, which can lead to preservation and access challenges. This workshop will give guidance on both curatorial and preservation matters for these collections. Special collections and rare book curators and archivists, particularly those at smaller institutions, as well as other librarians for who the care of small special collections fall within their job duties are encouraged to attend. Organized by CARLI’s Preservation Working Group and sponsored by CARLI, the workshop will take place Tuesday, March 11th at Northern Illinois University. Tentative Agenda
