CARLI I-Share libraries have expressed interest in the development of end-user tutorials for I-Share to be made available to all member libraries. The IUG Instruction Team was charged with this task and is pleased to announce the completion of a revised set of tutorials covering various aspects of using I-Share. The tutorials are based on the "All I-Share Libraries" catalog and were created with Camtasia Studio™ software.
Each library can decide how to use these tutorials; you may decide to use all or only some of the lessons. Below are some options for using these tutorials:
On this page you will find the tutorials posted in Macromedia Flash (.swf) format and in .avi format for downloading, a description of the topics covered in each tutorial, the running times, and the scripts (Word documents) used in making the I-Share tutorials.
The raw files posted on the web page are in the .avi format. They will only be viewable in this format on computers that have a specific TechSmith codec installed. This codec comes with the Camtasia Studio software and may not be generally available on other computers. If you would like to produce one or more of these tutorials in another format for posting on your local library website (without any other customization), simply download the .avi file, import it into Camtasia Studio, then “Produce the video” in another of the available formats (e.g. QuickTime .mov, Windows Media Streaming video .wmv, RealMedia streaming media .rm, etc.).
The I-Share Instruction Team hopes that you find these tutorials useful for instructing users about the catalog. Please contact the CARLI Office at support@carli.illinois.edu if you have any questions about these tutorials.

Camtasia Settings used by the I-Share Instruction Team when creating tutorials (Jan. 2007) ![]()
In November-December 2005, members of the IUAG End User Instruction Team conducted training sessions on Camtasia Studio™ for I-Share libraries. The two following documents were products of those sessions and include information on how the I-Share tutorials were made along with helpful tips. In addition, there is online Help on using Camtasia Studio™ available from the TechSmith Learning Center.
