ICAT Fall 2011 Forum/webinars
The I-Share Cataloging and Authority Control Team (ICAT) will present its Fall Forum 2011 as a series of three webinars. The sessions will last between 1 and 1.5 hours, and will include time for questions and answers. Cataloging in the I-Share Environment: A Primer for Newbies Casey Sutherland (CARLI Office) will review various resources available to catalogers in I-Share libraries. The primary focus will be on resources and documentation applicable to the unique I-Share environment, including best practices guidelines and cataloging workflows for the I-Share union catalog. The content will be aimed at information that might be useful to a brand-new cataloger in an I-Share library, but others may also find the webinar useful as a refresher. In 2009, the CatER Task Force revised recommendations for cataloging electronic resources within the I-Share environment. As part of this work, the Task Force put together some mini-reports and flowcharts designed to assist libraries with their catalog needs. Kristin Martin (UIC) will walk through the steps of catalog e-journals on an individual level, looking at the different decisions catalogers need to make and the specific recommendations of the CatER Task Force. Participants are encouraged to review the mini-report in advance and follow along during the webinar:http://www.carli.illinois.edu/mem-prod/I-Share/secure/cat/cater_ejournals_mini.pdf.
