ICAT Fall 2010 Forum/webinars
The I-Share Cataloging and Authority Control Team (ICAT) will be presenting its Fall 2010 Forum as two webinars on September 21. The sessions will last between 1.5 and 2 hours, and will include time for questions and answers. Tuesday, September 21, 2010, 10:00 – 12:00pm Session description: The webinar will be a basic introduction to using the third-party software written by Gary Strawn (Northwestern University) to perform batch-mode authority control activities in I-Share Voyager databases. Intended audience: Cataloging staff from any I-Share library with very little or no experience using the Strawn utilities called Catalogers Toolkit, Correction Review, and Correction Receiver. Note: the other Strawn programs supported by the CARLI Office will not be covered in this webinar. Powerpoint slides (saved as PDF) View webinar recording (~ 1.5 hour) Tuesday, September 21, 2010, 2:00 – 3:30pm Session description: The webinar will cover national standards-related changes from the past few years, such as the repeatable 260 field, changes to the 440 field, the BIBCO Standard Record for printed books with additional requirements for rare books and cartographic materials, and the provider-neutral guidelines for e-book cataloging. Additionally, new recommendations for cataloging e-resources for I-Share Libraries will be introduced. Intended audience: Cataloging staff from any CARLI library interested in these topics. Some of the topics will pertain to I-Share libraries only, but some of the topics will be pertinent to cataloging staff from any CARLI library. Powerpoint slides (saved as PDF) |
