SFX | SFX Interest Group
Anouncement and Topic Outline
In September 2008, CARLI will begin hosting a series of webcasts on SFX topics of general interest. All CARLI SFX administrators are welcome and encouraged to attend. In part this is a response to requests for additional SFX training from CARLI SFX administrators. These sessions are also intended raise awareness of the services and utilities that SFX has to offer. To allow for as many people as possible to attend, the same topic will be covered twice in a given month. Generally, sessions are scheduled every month on the 3rd Monday from 1:30-2:30 PM and the 4th Tuesday from 10-11 AM. For specific dates, please see the CARLI calendar. Attendees will be able to participate toll-free and view accompanying presentations on their personal computers via Wimba. No registration is required.
Wimba Connection Information You will need to connect to the video portion of the webcast via Wimba and the audio portion by conference call. A few minutes before the webcast is scheduled to begin, point your browser to: http://webj.wimba.com/launcher.cgi?room=carli_meeting1 *Note that the url for the webcast is NOT the same as the url for the Wimba Setup Wizard. For additional information, including webcast etiquette, please read the documentation at http://www.carli.illinois.edu/comms/WimbaWebcastPrep.pdf
For Help Be sure to run the Wimba Setup Wizard well in advance of the session. Please work with your institution’s tech support staff to resolve any computer issues that the Wizard may identify. Remember, you won’t need Wimba audio, so those setup steps are not critical. If you have problems with the Setup Wizard that your tech support staff cannot resolve, contact CARLI at support@carli.illinois.edu or by phone at 1-866-904-5843. We can’t modify your PC, but we will at least send you the slides from the webcast and make sure you have the training information you need.
