The CARLI Electronic Resources Licensing Principles outline the philosophical assumptions that provide the foundation for the CARLI Electronic Resources program. These principles guide CARLI’s efforts in negotiating with publishers and vendors for a wide variety of electronic content on behalf of the membership. The licensing principles were created by the E-Resources Working Group and endorsed by the CARLI Board of Directors in early 2008. CARLI also contracts with commercial database providers to supply members with discounted pricing for a broad range of indexing, abstracting, and full text databases to support their individual curricular and research needs. Member libraries pay the subscription costs for these resources but CARLI assumes the costs associated with
Content provided through the E- Resources program is hosted on vendor maintained platforms, with the exception of digital images hosted on CARLI’s CONTENTdm server. E-Resource content obtained through CARLI makes use of all other member products (CONTENTdm, I-Share, SFX, and WebFeat) to effectively serve the information needs of students, faculty and staff at member libraries. All CARLI members are eligible to participate in the database brokering program but may incur additional service fees depending upon their membership level, as follow:
