In the months ahead many CARLI libraries will be facing difficult decisions in relation to their library budgets. In order to provide access to the management information needed to make these decisions, we are gathering information about the administrative tools available in the electronic resources that you license through CARLI. If you would like to suggest topics to be included, email support@illinois.edu with your suggestions.

The EBSCO Administrative Module

EBSCO has a robust administrative module that will allow you to do many things related to the management of your EBSCO database subscriptions. There are number of help options on the site, including a tutorial about the use of the module and a link to support and training information, including FAQs. If you do not have your User ID and password please email support@illinois.edu and we will get the information for you.

When you access the administrative module, the reports and statistics tab will provide an array of reports to help:

  • Make collection decisions by reviewing which of your licensed databases is used most or least often
  • Determine which individual titles within a database might need to be replaced if that database is discontinued
  • Track use by IP ranges to see which user groups within your library utilize the resources most heavily or may need encouragement to use them more often

In addition to the extensive reporting capabilities, the EBSCO admin module allows you to:

  • add or change IP addresses
  • customize search features for your library or change format for viewing search results.
  • create marketing materials to promote the use of your licensed products in the Customer Success Center.
