Voyager Upgrade Update
June 15, 2009
This is an update on the I-Share upgrade to Voyager version 7.1. Please share this information with your colleagues. This information is accurate as of 4pm, Monday June 15, 2009. CARLI staff are finishing up the final tasks on the upgrade and we are now ready to say that the system will be coming online on version 7.1 at the start of business tomorrow (estimated time is 7:00 am), Tuesday, June 16, 2009. Until that time, I-Share catalogs will remain in the read-only access against the June 7 backup data. Loading Voyager Clients If you use CARLI’s Voyager Client Update Checker, the new 7.1 clients will load over night tonight (if PC’s are left powered on) or at startup tomorrow. If you load Voyager 7.1 clients manually, you may now start to do so. IMPORTANT NOTE: IF YOU MANUALLY DOWNLOADED THE VOYAGER 7.1 CLIENTS PRIOR TO FRIDAY, JUNE 12, YOU MUST DO SO AGAIN AS LATE-BREAKING CHANGES WERE RECEIVED AND POSTED ON JUNE 12. Completely uninstall the existing 7.1 clients using “Add/Remove Programs” from the Control Panel first, then perform a clean install from the newly downloaded VoyagerInstall.exe file. For more information on installing Voyager clients refer to http://www.carli.illinois.edu/mem-prod/I-Share/secure/execute.html#client
Tasks for After the Upgrade Please refer to the section of the CARLI Voyager Upgrade web page entitled “Library Tasks After the Upgrade” for a list of action items: http://www.carli.illinois.edu/mem-prod/I-Share/upgrade.html. Not every item on this list will apply to every I-Share library; please review the list for those applicable to your institution and proceed as directed. Reporting Problems As always, send your questions and problem reports to our online support system at support@carli.illinois.edu. As we indicated earlier, we anticipate that the new WebVoyáge will need ongoing performance tuning and we will do so, to the best of abilities, as quickly as possible. Please share your findings and observations with us and we will, as always, announce any major system problems via email and on the CARLI system status web page at http://blog.carli.illinois.edu/sys-status/.
