Voyager Upgrade Update
May 20, 2009 This note is being sent to multiple CARLI I-share related email lists, but please be sure to share this information with your colleagues that use I-Share Voyager and particularly with any staff that may be working in your library on Sunday, June 14, 2009 We have two new pieces of information to share with you about the upcoming Voyager upgrade. First, we have confirmed that Voyager version 7.1 will be available for production release in time for our upgrade. We have been telling you that we would not be sure if we would be upgrading to version 7.0.4 or the newer version 7.1. We've completed our pre-release tests of 7.1 and have been informed by Ex Libris that version 7.1 will be in general release as of next week. Hence, we will plan to upgrade to version 7.1. Secondly, we've also done another review of the upgrade process and timeline and we are going to be able to adjust our start time back to Sunday, June 14. Many I-Share libraries are closed on that day and we are hopeful that starting a day earlier will get the upgrade done sooner, and thereby reduce the hours of service disruption during weekdays. We still cannot predict an exact duration of the upgrade, and we must be cautious and allow some extra time for the unforeseen, so we are still asking you to be prepared for reduced Voyager service through Wednesday June 17. We hope we won't need that full time and we will update you during the process as we have better forecasts.
