Jan. 8, 2008 - The CARLI Voyager Reports Server will be taken offline today, Tuesday, Jan. 8, at 4:45pm to perform back up functions prior to tonight's upgrade to Voyager 6.5.3. The Reports Server should be back online Wednesday morning Jan. 9 as usual with a copy of data as of 3am that morning.

Library Tasks before the Upgrade to the Production Databases
Required
- Make sure your computers meet the minimum requirements outlined

- Document your current preferences in all Voyager clients
- If your library does not use the CARLI's Voyager Client Update Checker, make a copy of important Voyager files that you have customized into a folder outside of the Voyager folder to preserve them from being overwritten during manual installation of 6.5.3 clients. Files may include things like the voyager.ini, eisreport.mdb, callslip.ini, crcnotes.mdb, acqrpts.mdb, Acqbib.cfg, tag tables, record template files, etc.

- Consider other SysAdmin changes to take advantage of new features
Library Workflows/Tasks During Upgrade
- When applicable, use Offline Circulation
- Voyager, including staff client access and WebVoyage (both local OPACs and the UC) will be down for the duration of the upgrade: 5pm Tuesday Jan. 8th through 8am Wednesday Jan. 9th, 2008.
Library Tasks After the Upgrade
Required
- If you used Offline Circulation during the upgrade, make a back up copy (in a folder other than the Voyager folder) of your Offline Capture File.
- Download and install the Voyager 6.5.3 clients (if you haven't already done so--or if CARLI's automated Voyager Client Update Checker hasn't already done so for you).
- Log into the PC as an Administrator and Install clients on all library staff workstations.
Circulation
Call Slip
- If you manually installed the Voyager Clients, download revised version of the I-Share callslip.ini from: http://www.carli.illinois.edu/mem-prod/I-Share/circ/V6callslip.ini or use your previously customized callslip.ini file. Use this file to replace the generic callslip.ini file in the Voyager/Misc folder that will come with the newly upgraded clients on your workstation.
- If you manually installed your Voyager clients, and you did not save the CARLI-customized callslip.ini file on your PC, you need to adjust your Call Slip e-mail defaults prior to processing any Voyager requests. See Voyager Call Slip Daemon: Email Options for more information.
