- July 5, 2011 - This is just a reminder that I-Share (CARLI's Voyager system) will be offline this coming weekend beginning at 5pm, Friday July 8, to upgrade to Voyager version 7.2.5, and will remain offline until 6am, Monday July 11. No access to the public catalog (union catalog or local catalogs) [or Voyager staff clients] will be available during the upgrade. For detailed information on tasks to do before, during and after the upgrade, see the I-Share upgrade webpage [below].
Please note that this upgrade does require the new, version 7.2.5, Voyager staff client software to be installed on library desktop computers to replace the Voyager clients currently in use. Links to the 7.2.5 clients will be available on the upgrade page later this week. Please note that the 7.2.5 clients cannot connect to Voyager until the server upgrade is successfully completed. CARLI offers a Voyager Client Update Checker to I-Share libraries that can help automate the client update process. Use of the Update checker is optional; more information on it is available on the upgrade webpage [below], or directly at this url: http://www.carli.illinois.edu/mem-prod/I-Share/secure/execute.html#update
After the Voyager upgrade is completed on the I-Share production servers, CARLI staff will upgrade the CARLI reports server, (reports.carli.illinois.edu) to Voyager 7.2.5 as well. This will entail downtime for the reports server and will impact staff who use it for reporting and/or use of the Gary Strawn utilities. We anticipate that this outage will run from July 12 through July 15. We will send more detail about the report server status in a separate email tomorrow.
- June 22, 2011 - From Friday, July 8, 2011, 5pm CDT until Monday, July 11, 2011, 6am CDT CARLI’s Voyager system will be upgraded to the latest version of the Voyager software, and the Oracle database system that supports it will also be upgraded. All Classic WebVoyáge and VuFind local catalogs, the VuFind union catalog, and all staff Voyager client access will be completely offline during the upgrade period. During the upgrade, users attempting to access the online catalog will see a message indicating that the system is offline for upgrade. This message will also provide a link to the CARLI System Status page (http://blog.carli.illinois.edu/sys-status/) where the latest status of the upgrade will be posted. Circulation staff may take advantage of the Voyager offline backup circulation process if they desire. New Voyager staff clients will be required on all desktop computers that support staff functions.
