About CARLI

CARLI serves over 94% of Illinois higher education students, faculty and staff at 153 member institutions. Among the many benefits of CARLI membership are the I-Share integrated library system that serves 76 institutions; E-resources brokering, with over 2500 discounted subscriptions to electronic journals and other resources in FY2011; the Illinois Library Delivery Service (ILDS), offering 24-hour delivery among 141 CARLI libraries and all of the state’s regional library systems; CARLI Digital Collections, using OCLC's CONTENTdm digital asset management software to host over 100 digital collections created by CARLI member institutions; and the Book Digitization Initiative, a partnership with the Open Content Alliance to provide a digitization opportunity for Illinois academic and research libraries.

New initiatives at CARLI include in-house development on the VuFind open source front end to the I-Share catalog; and participation in the University of Rochester’s Extensible Catalog project.
