Do you know the people in this photo? They may be your neighbors, colleagues, relatives or friends. Maybe one of them is YOU.

The Lovejoy Library at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville needs your help. Throughout October and November, the library is honoring the 20th anniversary of the Million Man March with a special project—identifying as many people as possible in the photographs that form part of the Eugene B. Redmond Collection.

Redmond, a professor at SIUE, along with his collaborators, documented the Million Man March in 1995 and later published their work as a special issue of Drumvoices Revue. Redmond’s work includes hundreds of photographs documenting events before, during and after the Million Man March, plus audio interviews, manuscripts and other materials.

Browse the collection. If you recognize yourself or someone you know, add a name by scrolling to the bottom of a photo detail page and clicking “Tag” and then “Add tags.” Many photos have been tagged, but there is still much work to be done. Help spread the word, and help the Lovejoy Library preserve this important legacy.
