- Recruit volunteer to take notes today

- Review agenda
- Review minutes from February 13
Minutes were approved as amended with thanks to Jim.
- Any additional forum topic ideas?
A review of the summary of training needs survey indicates that there are layers of training needs, and our ideas from the last meeting were higher level needs. Since the survey, some basic training needs may have been met by the basic training course CARLI held (12 people from 6 libraries attended). That survey remains open. Reminder-training needs should guide but not limit us.
Jim mentioned that NIU was using SFX to assist with check-in/claiming for electronic resources.
- Consider further how topics might be addressed (screencasts, demos, facilitated discussions, panel presentations, documentation/handouts, etc.), and by whom.
Concluded that for folks to spend the time to drive to a forum that the topics should be fairly meaty. We worked through the suggestion list from last time, and tried to identify the best presentation/teaching tool for each.
Decided on three teaching tools- movies (for basic topics); web-based conference call for more complex topics or those that might have a defined audience (like implementation/maintenance issues re free/open access targets or working with monthly updates); leading up to a forum for more advanced topics.
Phase I: Movies (via Camtasia or other software)
Prepare scripts for each of these 5 topics:
Adding an object to a new target (Jim)
Dataloader (Jim)
Display logic (Andrea)
Thresholds (Sandy)
Activating new targets for aggregators and for non-aggregators (Sarah).
Find, invite Camtasia expert(s) to be present during our script-evaluation conference call on March 27th. Recruit person(s) to direct and produce these mini-movies from finalized scripts. Use the same voice for each.
- Consider possible dates/locations for a forum - tabled for now
- Confirm assignments/deadlines
Each is to prepare a draft script and submit it to the group by email by March 20th.
- Other business - none
- Set date(s) for next meeting(s): March 27, 2:30pm. Paige will arrange.
