Continuing Business
- We agreed that the 13-item list (“Recommendations for CARLI Strategic Plan”) sent out prior to the meeting could be organized into four categories and that we would create subcommittees to work on them. These categories were:
Building/Facilitating the Public Services Community
encompassing:
- “Folders” (flexible technology for content and conversations)
- Conferencing Technologies
- Listserv for Public Services Issues
Training/Education/Program Development
encompassing:
- Coordinating the sharing of expertise
- List of experts
- Consultancies—Volunteers
- Regular series of programs, presentations and workshops
- CARLI Conference on Public Services
Survey of Professional Development Needs
Assessment
encompassing:
- Collaboratively created assessment tool for information literacy
- Interpreting and using assessment information
- Collaborative creation of Public Services assessment instruments
We further agreed to self-select ourselves into these working groups. After reviewing the minutes, everyone should contact Dane to let him/us know what group/s you would like to work with.
- We agreed to collectively work on the idea of a CARLI Public Services Conference. We discussed the possibility of planning, organizing and delivering this Conference during the spring semester. Resources may be available from CARLI. We talked about using the conference as a way to do some preliminary needs assessments, and to make it an active program that incorporated small group work. Another task involves identifying a keynote speaker. We thought that mid-March might be a possibility.
