CARLI Report: (Mel Farrell & Lorna Engels)
- Everyone should read the March 2009 CARLI Newsletter – there is a lot of information regarding the upgrade this summer, and other things of interest.
- There are a good number of volunteers for open positions on the working group and teams. Working group members will be selected first and then the teams.
- The upgrade to Voyager will take place June 15 -17. The version will be either 7.0.4 or 7.1 if field testing works for us. Training databases will be available soon.
- We will continue to use Access and SQL since Voyager Analyzer does not work in our environment.
IUG Report: (Sarah McHone-Chase)
- Finalized a OPAC Volunteer Usability Group, a pool of libraries to do testing
- The Copyright Workshop held March 20 at UIC was well received and we can expect more copyright workshops in the future
- I-Share Users’ Group Liaison’s Forum will be May 21 in Champaign
- The CARLI evaluation form for forums and workshops will be changing and may move to a Web form sometime in the future.
TEST SCRIPTS
- We are encouraged to go into the scripts to add functions to Universal Borrowing, Call Slips and Reporter Notice/Reports Processing.
- Deadline for this work in progress is June 15
WIMBA SESSIONS
- Mel is working on information on the bug fixes and new functionality for the Wimba Sessions before the summer upgrade.
- Next month content for the Wimba sessions will be outlined
- Sessions will be June 3 & 4
FUTURE ILS
- What is good about our current system and we don’t want to lose: UB borrowing, and ease of processing call slips were prominent.
- What we would like to see in a new system; more integration of circulation and ‘WebVoyage’ information. ie. what patrons have out from other schools, why blocked at other schools, ability to search by Bib ID and Patron Record number, a ‘back’ button, tracking in ILDS
HOMEWORK
- Clarify language for failed requests
- Clear understanding of block messages on patron records
