New Business IUG Report – Jenny – E-mailed the following: The last IUG meeting was on February 9th. The Committee Reports were pretty basic stuff. We chose a new member for the Instruction Team (don't have the name noted, sorry. Maybe Lorna can fill in that info). During the OPAC Team report, we got going on the subject of Usability Testing, as the OPAC team wants to test new search types. This raised the question of coming up with some standardized guidelines for usability testing throughout the consortium, not just for the OPAC but for all I-Share supplied products. We plan to hash this out more completely at our next meeting. We spoke briefly about a letter that has been drafted to be sent to directors and liaisons to remind them about interaction within the consortium, especially with the new member libraries that are coming onboard. Felix was going to send the e-mail on behalf of all of IUG. Felix presented his draft of the IUG report as it stands right now, which just covered everything that we have done since June. Everyone was happy with the format and the content. We talked about the performance issues that had been coming up and Paige had update that they were planning on slowly moving each institution to its own Oracle instance (to reduce traffic). Maybe there is a further update on this issue… (Mel/Lorna?) The next IUG meeting is this Friday, March 9th, at Bradley in Peoria. -Jenny Comments from IUG Report CARLI staff will be involved in the coming weeks moving libraries to their own separate Oracle instances. This should alleviate the problem with database communication and contention for the Oracle tables. Three libraries have already been moved: UIU; SIC; NIU. DPU and ISU will be moved on Sunday 3/11/07. Problem day is Tuesday where traffic is the heaviest and slow downs have been reported. These Oracle moves should improve the performance. Report to CARLI if you see no improvements after all libraries are moved to their own ORACLE instance. Lorna – Reminder for Regional Institute for Information Literacy Immersion '07 Program. Applications for remaining spots will be taken until March 30, 2007. Inform your home library instruction team of this opportunity and to think about attending. Action Items Finalize Forum date at Kankakee by the end of this week (3/9/07). Once the Forum date is set our next committee meeting will be decided. Respectfully Submitted, |
