Report from Paige-

  • Any hope for a future re-upgrade to WV7?
  • Report on CARLI meeting on 8/27 to discuss CARLI’s future support of VuFind

Here’s a reminder of what we were working on before the “downgrade”:

  • Amanda: update OPAC enhancements log (done); library contact info. in MyAccount spec.
  • Paula: documentation of OPAC displays; document URL-related searches (“canned searches”); different icon for available but non-circulating items?
  • Peggy: begin revision of OPAC customization guidelines
  • Lisa: begin revision of WV test script to work with WV7
  • Jana: rethink research result data “columns”
  • Keith: spec. for how “prolific author/composer” search will look on the author search tab
  • Greg: cosmetic differentiation of UC; export to RefWorks (investigate Hamilton College solution)
  • Paige and guest speaker Kerri Wilette (Columbia) gave two customization Webinars for WV7 in July.
  • Please take a look at the upgraded Enhancements Status Log for other ideas in various stages of planning:

  1. Is any of this work still relevant to our current situation?
  2. Do we want to continue any of the WV7-specific projects in the hopes that they will be relevant in the near future? Or, is that a waste of team member time?

Upcoming CARLI Annual Meeting on Oct. 30th.

  1. What would be useful for Amanda to hear from other CARLI chairs (or from CARLI staff) at that meeting?
  2. What would it be useful for Amanda to convey from the OPAC Team to the chairs of other CARLI teams/committees/working groups during that meeting?

Minor customization requests:

  • display subfields other than $a in the 502
  • offer email link on single-record view, so motivated users can report problems with 856 field linking
  • revise wording of error message displayed in response to search syntax errors
  • in WV7, allow change to defaults that the customization guidelines would have allowed in WV6 (but that no one actually ever changed)?
  • number of records/page on hitlist (assuming no measurable performance impact)
  • default selection among "all of these words," "any of these words," and "these words as a phrase" on the advanced search page

IUG members will be joining the call at 11:15 to discuss:

  1. The near-future of usability testing: start testing with Webvoyage or wait until Voyager 7 is up and ready to go?
  2. Is there something that you¹ve thought about doing that you didn¹t have the resources (time, people, $$, materials) to do (as a team)?
  3. Is there another way of doing things besides a monthly meeting or a forum?
  4. What services would you like to provide to your patrons that the next ILS could enable?
  5. Any questions for or about IUG?
  6. What mechanisms of communication would the team prefer with IUG?

Next meeting is Oct. 13th, 10am-12pm.
