CARLI Board
CARLI Board has not met but has decided not to implement new round of libraries for coming year.
CARLI office report:
- Reversion to ‘Classic’ WebVoyage (from 7 to 6.5) was essential because demand on servers; working with Ex Libris to recreate load and test Version 7 to determine future plans. CARLI’s size may be reason for problems. If possible, upgrade will be planned for semester break
- Can still work on customization of WebVoyage 7 on training instance
- Training for I-Share members is planned for MFHD, Cataloguing, Acquisitions, and Serials.
Team Reports:
Acquisitions & Serials Team by Karen Whisler
- Acq/Ser Team met on August 7, 2009 in Champaign
- The Team decided to schedule Open Conference Calls on an “as needed” basis instead of a fixed quarterly schedule. Possible topics include new functionality in Voyager 7, information for people new to acquisitions, ERMS, and data transfer between systems.
- The Team discussed WIMBA sessions for topics like complex publication patterns, EDI, ERMS, and MFHD coding. ERMS might be a good topic for a mini-forum.
- The Team is investigating a Spring Forum, upstate, around the week of March 22nd.
- Other tasks include improving the Wiki, updating the FAQ, and pre-paring mini-tutorials.
- The Team meetings are scheduled on the third Wednesday of the month.
- Next meeting is September 16, 2009
Cataloging and Authority Control Team reported by Lorna
- Team met on July 24
- Discussed a Fall Forum webinar in early Dec
- Spring Forum date to be determined
- Suggested Maintenance Priorities document to be revised
- Will be invited to call in to IUG meeting Sept. 18
- Next meeting Sept. 8
Resource Sharing Team reported by Mary Burkee
- Team met Aug 13
- Planning a forum Oct 15 at Governor’s State
- Pursuing proposal from Instruction Team for online tutorial workshop
- Resource Sharing Task Force policy update
- Next meeting Sept 10
Instruction Team by Jason Rossi
- Team met on July 27,
- Two more Online Tutorial Creation Workshops will be held Nov 6 (DOM)and Nov 13 (CSU)
- Scripting ideas for next meeting
- Possible forum in late Spring or early Summer; Reinventing One-shot Instruction. Topics may include assessment, teaching in a mobile world, supplementing one shot instruction, library collaboration with faculty or learning styles

- Has not met since last IUG meeting, next meeting Sept 8

Copyright Workshop
- Application for funding has been sent to Program Planning Committee, and they will meet September 2
- This will be a joint Workshop with the Digital Collection Users’ Group (DCUG)
- Dwayne Buttler from Univ of Louisville has been invited to be the speaker
Open Source/ILS discussion
- Possible sources for more information:
- NISO webinar , included included Marshall Breeding.
- Next Library Journal sponsored webinar is Sept 22, from 11-12, cost of attending is free
- Ole article is in Library Journal Academic
- Continued approach: Section of CARLI wiki will be opened for links or articles of general interest on open source and ILS; anyone can read or post to wiki. Please share articles and links here.
- Worst Case Scenario—discussion of what to do if Ex Libris can’t get WebVoyage 7 to work with CARLI libraries.
Usability Testing
- 13 people from 11 institutions volunteered for the Usability Testing Volunteer Group (UTVG) and have been added to a UTVG mailing list along with members of the OPAC team
- Items on OPAC’s list could be tested in WebVoyage 7 (on training databases)
- Keith will discuss with OPAC whether another IUG member should be on their mailing list or need an IUG liaison to Usability Task Force
- Sarah as Chair of IUG will be added to the mailing list
Progress towards Reports Forum Task Force
- No one has responded to the call, Cathy will send out another call.
Other:
Questions were formulated to ask the Teams when they call in.
Discussion concerning sending I-Share items out of state (to distance learning students)
