Conference Call

Announcements:
- CARLI Update:
- Jessica Gibson reported that CARLI is still planning for the upgrade to Voyager 6.5.3 over winter break. This will be an overnight process with little down time.
- New ILDS delivery system starts January 2.
- IUG Report:
- Stephanie Graves reported that IUG met on December 1 and group members reported on CARLI forums held during November.
- IUG is setting up a I-Share library Liaisons meeting for March 18, 2008 at Illinois Wesleyan University.
- The group discussed possibilities for a copyright forum.
- An electronic discussion list for small CARLI member libraries has been set up. Information is available on the CARLI web site.
- IUG members were informed about the wiki and liked the idea.
Discussion:
- November 7 Instruction Forum and Evaluation:
Comments from the forum and evaluation form:
- Morning session ran too long (Molly)
- First break-out session, specifically the tech session, suffered from a shortened time period (Amy & Joe)
- Too many sessions scheduled? (Susan)
- Overall, many positive comments (Molly)
- In the future, suggest that someone monitor speakers’ times (Kent)
- A challenge to pair up mentors and mentees (Jessica)
- For next forum, include mentor/mentee tables for lunch
- Feedback from presenters was positive
- Future Plans:
- What does the team need to address next? Ideas:
- Re-visit the tutorials
- Creating tutorials with no audio
- Concern about revising tutorials if catalog interface changes
- Collaborate with other groups/teams:
- Possibly collaborate with the Public Services Working Group to plan another forum on social technologies.
- Gaming? Susan says UIUC has a group looking into this.
Other Business:
Next meeting is scheduled for January 22, 2008 at 9:30am.
Plan to discuss social technologies, gaming, and Web 2.0.
Tasks Assigned:
Molly will contact Dane Ward about collaborating with the Public Services Working Group on hosting a forum on social technologies.
