Decisions:

  • Minutes of the 09/12/2007 meeting were approved with changes. 
  • Randi will send topical bullet points to Margaret Chambers covering the Team’s continuing Forum planning and Wiki-building.


Announcements:

  1. IUG update
    • CARLI Strategic plan was accepted by the Board
    • CARLI staff are working with libraries on a project to purge social security numbers from patron data
    • New statewide Library delivery service to be instigated January 2, 2008; provider name is Lanter Delivery System
    • November 7th I-Share Instruction Team Fall Forum
    • November 13th  I-Share Cataloging & Authority Control Team forum
    • November 14th I-Share Resource Sharing Team Fall Forum
    • November 29th  I-Share Acquisitions Serials Team Fall Forum
    • OPAC Team Forum (TBA)
  2. CARLI Update
    • CARLI may be moving from its Daniel Street location to a new building located near Neil and Kirby in late Spring 2008 (Plenty of free parking!)
    • CARLI Annual Meeting October 26, 2007 at Hilton Garden Inn
    • Jennifer Bowen will give an overview of the Rochester Extensible Catalog and
    • CARLI staff will demonstrate VU Find, an open-source product, that may provide a faceted front end interface to Voyager.
    • Cindy Clennon was appointed Director of Electronic Resources effective October 1st
  3. CARLI Chairs Meeting
    • Attendees received the “Guidelines for CARLI Committee Chairs and Members” document which includes a template for minutes of CARLI meetings to emulate with the goal of having meeting minutes posted to the group’s email list within 7 days of the meeting and approved within 7 days of posting. The logic is that with quicker meeting minutes posted, there will open up greater opportunity for collaborations between working groups
    • Listened to Teams and Committees describe what they are working on
  4. Forum Update
    • To date, sixty people have signed up for the I-Share Instruction Team Forum "Best Practices in Library Instruction" on November 7, 2007.  (That leaves forty spaces to fill with a deadline of October 31st)
    • Another reminder for attending the I-Share Instruction Team Forum will be emailed to CARLI members October 22nd
    • It was suggested by someone to encourage members of our Library community, and those we know involved with other Users’ Groups, to sign up and attend the Instruction Team Forum
    • We were informed that Connie Ghinazzi has bowed out of her Forum presentation, and in her place Chad Khal and colleague Maureen Brunsdale will be presenting and adding to the agenda “Classroom Control System Software”, demonstrating the surveying feature of Netsupport School
    • We are waiting to hear from session speaker Beth Woodward to accrue a clear sense of what concepts will be discussed and will thereafter prepare topics/questions for Roundtable breakout sessions
    • Arrangement of room setup is in flux, depending on registration breakdowns.
    • Question was raised about members of the Instruction Team arriving earlier than 9:30 AM to help with registration, and if possible, it was encouraged
    • To date, twelve individuals have signed up for the mentoring program to meet at the Forum
  5. Wiki Update
    • Wiki subgroup meeting held to discuss the posting of instruction materials to the CARLI wiki I-Share Portal, Instruction Materials
    • Heartland Community College, Millikin University, and I-Share Instruction Team have posted instruction materials and all Instruction Team members were encourage to post as we can
