I-Share Instruction Team Minutes 6/11/08
Conference Call: 1:00 pm
Present: Susan Avery (UIUC), Molly Beestrum (Dominican University), Amy Glass (Illinois Central College), Kathleen Haefliger (Chicago State University), Joe Hardenbrook (Millikin University), Terry Huttenlock (Wheaton College), Randi Sutter (Heartland Community College), Keith Eiten (Interim IUG Liaison, Wheaton College), Lorna Engels (CARLI), Jessica Gibson (CARLI).
Absent: Kent Carrico (Benedictine University),
Minutes: Minutes from the May 16, 2008 were accepted with changes and approved.
A) CARLI Report - The CARLI office move is scheduled for the week of June 16th.
B) IUG Report - Discussed annual reports from all teams at June 6 meeting
- IUG is planning a fall forum on writing Voyager reports
- IUG also discussing the possibility of a joint forum with the Public Services Working Group in the spring on copyright education
- New members will join the group at the July meeting and new officers will be elected
C) Discussion: - Team decided to postpone forum on social technology and library instruction based on speaker availability
- Members open to rewriting the team’s official charge to expand it beyond just I-Share
- Team discussed possibility of a “tutorial creation workshop” in the fall
- Limited size to accommodate time for hands-on component
- Provide tutorial scripts and additional “how-to” documentation
- Possibly hold multiple sessions throughout different parts of the state
- Would not be limited to or focus on a particular piece of software for creating tutorials
- New members will join the team at the next meeting
Action:
Molly will make a few more changes to the team’s annual report for IUG and resubmit it. Annual reports are posted on team website like meeting minutes.
