- Sixty-two people are currently registered for the spring forum, which will be held on April 9 at Kankakee Community College.
- There were no volunteers for guest blogging at the spring forum.
- Stephen Smith provided the IUG report. The IUG meeting minutes will be available from http://www.carli.illinois.edu/comms/iug/iug-mins.html. A primary topic of the recent IUG meeting was reviewing the evaluations from the Liaison Forum held at IWU on March 18, 2008.
Tasks assigned:
ICAT members attending the spring forum need to be prepared to ask questions during the afternoon Q&A panel discussion.
Discussions: - Subject authority validation was discussed. Library of Congress has started creating new authority records that include country and free floating subdivisions, and the number of authority records being supplied by LC is currently at about 5,000 new records per week and will continue to increase. Committee members felt it was very worthwhile to make these subdivided authorities available for maximum efficiency in subject validation. Cathy Salika will explore storage disk space options for this rapidly increasing influx of new authority records.
- Members discussed Google protocols and it was decided that Stephen Smith, IUG Liaison, will bring this matter up for the IUG OPAC team to look at.
- IACQ has invited ICAT members to join them for an Acquisition Practices program planning meeting, which will be held on April 18 at the CARLI office from 11 AM-2 PM, with a phone-in option, 217-265-5200. Susan is planning on attending the meeting and Priscilla will phone in. Other members may attend or phone in as well.
