- The call for volunteers for CARLI committees is now open. Deadline for volunteer forms is April 30, 2009. All committee members will officially begin their terms on July 1, 2009.
- Nominations have been requested for open seats on the CARLI Board of Directors. The nomination period ends April 17, 2009.
- The University Of Illinois Board Of Trustees approved the recommendation of the CARLI Aggregated Database Task Force to contract with EBSCO Publishing. The contract provides continued access to databases from EBSCO including Academic Search Premier and Business Source Elite for FY2010.
- CARLI is conducting a survey of the members. Deadline for completing the survey is April 3, 2009.
- The Technical Services Workflow Analysis Seminar mini forum at Greenville College will meet in the library.
- IUG Report (Karen Whisler reporting):
- IUG requests that Voyager test scripts cover critical functionalities only and not be over complicated. It was noted that I-Share libraries will not be required to use the test scripts and therefore the scripts may not be vetted by CARLI prior to the Voyager upgrade.
- The training database will be made available to I-Share libraries prior to the upgrade.
- Discussions regarding the “future of ILS” continue. Teams are asked to determine what essential functionalities for an ideal ILS.
- H-Acq Fest: It was decided that the H-Acq Fest should be scheduled for June 9, 2009. This should not interfere with the Voyager upgrade scheduled for the following week.
- Plans for April 30, 2009 Spring Forum: There will be a panel discussion follow-up to the Fall 2008 Forum on Technical Services Workflows. Panelists will be Joan Schuitema (UIC), Lynn Gullickson and Lisa Richmond (Wheaton), and JoAnn Hounshell (IIT). Joan, Lynn and Lisa will discuss working with and implementing recommendations by R2 Consulting. JoAnn will discuss doing a workflow analysis without a consultant. There will be 2 breakout sessions held concurrently: one for cataloging staff, one for acquisitions/serials staff. For acquisitions/serials staff table topics will be the future ILS, acquisitions/serials workflow tips, ERMS, FPC, next generation OPAC.
- There was no new business.
- The next I-Share Acquisitions & Serials Team meeting will be a conference call on April 17, 2009.
Meeting adjourned noon to work on the Voyager upgrade script.
Respectfully submitted, JoAnn Hounshell
