New proposals

E-Libro
Is there interest in this product?  Chris indicated that he didn’t expect a community college user base looking for materials in the vernacular. Group will not push this offer out to members.

BizMiner Academic
New proposal, based on fte pricing of business students.  Content might overlap with Hoovers.  Doesn’t necessarily appear to be a well known product among our group.  Will not be pushed out to group.

IGI InfoSci – Group needs more information on this product. Based on reactions to the call, there might be more interest in learning more about this.  Cindy will contact IGI for more information.

Continuing proposals

Oxford Scholarship Online – This is shaping up to be much like the Greenwood product situation, and it might be better to  send our group to MLNC for discounted pricing.

Palgrave Dictionary of Economics – Cindy will draft a letter to Palgrave expressing reservations about pricing model and showing support for a letter sent by Jeffrey Archer at the University of Chicago representing concerns of business librarians.

Web of Science – We will continue to discuss options for working with Web of Science.  Cindy will explore pricing for JCR product.

3.    Old business

E-resource wish lists – Ongoing discussion.

  • Licensing conference – 93 registered.  Program will run from 9:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m..  Standard CARLI evaluation form will be provided to all attendees.

4.    New business

DOAJ (Directory of Open Access Journals) Membership Request – The group does not want to recommend that CARLI pay the $6280.00 to support DOAJ, but feels this may be a decision for the Board.  Right now only two consortiums are listed as supporters.  Jeannette will draft a document listing some of the pro/cons of supporting DOAJ.

E-Book Survey – Deferred from October 13th meeting.  Can we create a member survey that would inform us about how CARLI members are currently utilizing e-books and if there is a particular role that CARLI needs to provide in regards to E-books?

MLNC Membership – We will discuss CARLI subsidy of MLNC memberships for CARLI members in February.  Need Data from MLNC regarding use by CARLI members.  May consider a survey of the membership prior to discussion to determine level of awareness about this subsidy.
