Discussions:
- CARLI Staff Announcements –
- Position announcement for Electronic Resources Director position has been distributed.
- Spring 2007 Brokering –
- Spring brokering cycle (FY2008) – update – 355 subscriptions and 38 schools. We will be doing ProQuest sole source renewals for FY 2008.
- One complaint about dropping Proquest is that their MLA subscription is tightly tied to subscriptions to Literature Online.
- Membership on the ERWG for next year –
- Raeann, Kathryn and Jeanette have terms ending June 30, 2007. They are eligible for another term but must volunteer again. A call for volunteers going out shortly.
- Status of Product Proposals -
- Euclid Prime Collection –move to Staff Review and ask about print cancellation policy.
- Electronic Patrologiae Graecae – move status to Deny
- SimplyMap – move to Staff Review
- Bowker’s Resources for College Libraries (RCL Web) – move to Staff Review; how might it work consortially?
- Ebooks - moved to later in the year
- GeoScience World – currently in Staff Review
- E-Journal Archive update –
- The Board agreed to a proposal for this archive. Looking at some model that includes CARLI funds and some degree of membership contribution. This would make up annual “funds available” for one-time purchases.
- Sage deep backfile, Historical Chicago Tribune, LexisNexis backfile and Alexander Street Press backfile. The Board did not give a directive toward any particular product.
- Going to ask for a trial from Sage for the CARLI ERWG and solicit feedback.
- Any other consortia looking at a member cost-share models? There are some, possibly Alabama.
- E-book panel in June -
- CARLI has been getting suggestions and proposals for Ebooks. June 11 looks good for face-to-face meeting and discussion of Ebooks.
- Possible Invitees: Oxford, Ebrary, netLibrary, Xrefer, EBL, MyiLibrary, Thomson Gale, Wiley or Springer, O’Reilly/Safari (ProQuest)
- How do we feel about inviting other member libraries? Good idea.
- At a later date, put together Ebook demonstrations of latest technologies. ERWG could submit something to the program planning committee.
- Other Business –
