- Welcome and Introductions
- Agenda approved
- Overview of the committee website. Discussed the new CARLI website. The group determined that the coordination phrase found in other working group charges needs to be added to the CWG. Discussed use of the working group’s collections@carli.illinois.edu listserv. Discussed the CARLI Collections and Content Group listserv (ccg@carli.illinois.edu). On a query of what to do with e-resources announcements, the group preferred no new listservs. They would like more description information on the lists that currently exist with modifications to the descriptions to include examples of sample messages. Also discussed was the posting of minutes to the CARLI website.
- Grants Program 2007. All grant letters have been sent to institutions. The grant that needed to be slightly revised has been resubmitted. There was a school that was not able to accept grant funds this year. The primary contact for the grants involved forwarded information on how the funds should be divided among the remaining grant members.
- Grants Program 2008. For timing with an earlier (November 2006) Bibliographers’ Meeting, the CARLI Board of Directors needs to approve a grants program at its September 29, 2006 meeting. The group discussed revisions of the relevant documents. CARLI staff will send the revised documents to the CWG on Monday for review and edit. Linda Morrissett and Nancy O’Brien will work on updating the “Principles for Collection Partnerships” document. All documents need to be sent to the CARLI Executive Committee by September 20, 2006. The group discussed asking the Board if they might accept the documents for approval in October. Jerry Anderson, Marlene Slough, Linda Morrissett, and Elizabeth Clarage will work on the Grants Workshops to be giving in December 2006. A template will be created for proposal applications. The workshops will be held in Chicago and the Bloomington/Normal areas. The group also discussed having creating an online interactive scoring website for the CARLI grants program. Staff will investigate the possibility.
- Bibliographers’ Meeting – November 2, 2006 at Elgin Community College. Linda McEwan and Elizabeth Clarage will work on the agenda and logistics of the meeting. The group discussed the program and wished to have a digitization focus for the main education portion of the meeting.
- Workshop for 2006/2007. The group discussed a possible copyright program but wish to go beyond typical copyright perhaps into digital rights management. The group thought of other programs that they might wish to explore instead including “Information Commons” – Alternative Delivery Systems; Blackboard delivery systems. The group was interested in collaboration with other groups such as CARLI E-Resources or in conjunction with IACRL / ILA. The group decided to discuss further at a future meeting.
- OCLC Collection Analysis Product. Staff will confirm the ending date of the current trial. The CWG wishes to conduct a survey of current participants during October to determine the current use of the product.
- Results from June 2006 consortia survey. Group postponed this discussion to review the survey responses.
