Decisions:

• Minutes of the November meeting were approved prior to the meeting.
• The Board approved the recommendation of the Finance Committee for the purchase and payment of annual maintenance fees for software that will provide real-time synchronization of the I-Share reports server with the I-Share production server.
• The Board amended and approved the E-Resources Licensing Principles and Standard E-Resources Agreement Language from the E-Resources Working Group.
• The Board appointed Kristine Hammerstrand to lead the I-Share Resource Sharing Code Revision Task Force.  Cheryl Elzy and Scott Drone-Silvers will serve as Board representatives with other members to be selected including representatives from the I-Share Resource Sharing Team.
• The meeting was adjourned at 1 p.m.

Announcements:

• The Board commended David Carlson for initiating the GWLA (Greater Western Library Alliance)-CARLI resolution expressing disagreement with the decision by the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) to discontinue participation in JSTOR and successfully urging them to reconsider their decision. 
• The new ILDS successfully began operation on schedule on January 2, 2008. The Board commended the Delivery Implementation Committee for their hard work and the successful launch of a valuable program.
• I-Share Voyager Software system was successfully upgraded to version 6.5.3 January 8-9.
• CARLI staff has begun preparations to bring five new I-Share libraries online this summer. The libraries are Adler School of Professional Psychology, Chicago School of Professional Psychology, Harrington College of Design, Principia College, and Rush University. The Erikson Institute has chosen to withdraw from this I-Share implementation round.
• The CARLI-sponsored ARL/ACRL Regional Institute for Scholarly Communication was held at the University of Illinois at Chicago December 5-7, 2007. 82 individuals from 33 institutions attended.
• First meeting of the Vufind early adopters to be held February 14.

Tasks assigned: 

• Staff will conduct a survey to determine CARLI libraries’ SFX deployment status and the willingness of institutions to willing to pay a fee to offset CARLI’s SFX support expenses, and provide a recommendation to the Board in March.
• Staff will work with the I-Share Resource Sharing Code Revision Task Force to provide a preliminary report to the Board in March, with final recommendations to the Board in May 2008.
