Decisions:

• Minutes of the July 20, 2007 meeting were approved prior to the meeting.
• The Board approved the CARLI Strategic Priorities 2008-2010.
• The Board approved a Resolution to the AAAS objecting to the removal of the journal Science from JSTOR.
• The Board approved the timeline to complete implementation of the University of Illinois IT audit recommendations by August 1, 2008, and to transfer liability to libraries for any non-compliance beginning August 1, 2008
• The Board amended and accepted the recommendations from the Collections Working Group for the rule changes for FY2009 Collection Enhancement Awards.

• The meeting was adjourned at 1:00 PM to conduct orientation for new Board members.

Announcements:

• CARLI has contracted with Lanter to begin 5 day/week, 24-hour delivery to all Illinois regional library systems and CARLI governing and associate members beginning on January 2, 2008. Preparations for delivery implementation are ongoing.
• Cindy Clennon has accepted the position of Director of Electronic Resources with CARLI beginning October 1, 2007.
• The CARLI offices will be moving in 2008. Planning and negotiations are underway.
• CARLI is investigating a new open-source discovery tool for I-Share libraries. Early adopters are expected to begin testing the new functionality in January 2008.
• The Chairs of CARLI working groups and task forces met on September 20. The group will meet again in 2008 via conference call and in person. Dates are to be determined.
• The CARLI Annual meeting will be held October 26, at the Hilton Garden Inn, Champaign. The keynote speaker will be Sayeed Choudhury, Associate Dean of Libraries and the Hodson Director of the Digital Research and Curation Center at Johns Hopkins University, with an afternoon presentation from Jennifer Bowen, one of the principle investigators for the eXtensible Catalog (XC) Project, funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.

Tasks assigned:

• CARLI will inform the membership of the CARLI Strategic Priorities 2008-2010.
• CARLI will transmit  the AAAS resolution on behalf of the Board and announce the resolution to the membership.
• CARLI staff will proceed with the implementation of the IT audit recommendations and begin contacting affected libraries.
