Decisions:
- Minutes of the May 18th meeting were approved prior to the meeting.
- The Board selected Mary Case as the vice-chair/chair elect.
- The Board accepted the recommendations of the staff for the special election to fill the seat vacated by Eric Welch’s retirement. Current community college members of the Board will serve as the nominations committee.
- The Board accepted the recommendations of the Collections Awards Task Force.
- The meeting was adjourned at 1:40 PM.
Announcements:
- Eric Welch resigned from the Board effective July 21, 2007. The Board thanked him for his service.
- The RFP process to select a vendor to provide statewide backbone delivery service has been completed and CARLI has made a recommendation, pending the completion of state budget deliberations.
- The six new libraries in the I-Share Class of 2007 are now online in I-Share. The new libraries are Carl Sandburg College, Galesburg; Illinois Eastern Community Colleges (IEC), with four locations: Frontier Community College, Fairfield; Wabash Valley College, Mt. Carmel; Olney Central College, Olney; and Lincoln Trail College, Robinson; Knox College, Galesburg; Monmouth College, Monmouth; Saint Francis Medical Center College of Nursing, Peoria; and Trinity International University, Deerfield.
- The 2008 I-Share interest survey will open in August.
- The Spring database brokering cycle concluded with 1104 subscriptions from 100 member institutions.
- 29 libraries have expressed interest in purchasing the Sage Deep Journal Backfiles through the shared e-resources funding model approved by the Board in March. This is an open ended offer and significant further participation is anticipated.
- 27 libraries have subscribed to Syndetic Solutions catalog enrichment elements. Subscriptions will be accepted through July 31.
- CARLI will be conducting an interest survey of libraries interested in receiving a price quotation for ABI Inform. Depending on the level of interest, CARLI will seek discounted consortial pricing from the appropriate vendors.
- Notifications have been made for the FY 2008 Collection Awards.
- The ACRL Illinois Immersion ’07 Institute for Information Literacy Regional Immersion Program was held July 13-18, 2007 at Illinois State University. 66 individuals attended.
- CARLI will host the ACRL/ARL Regional Institute on Scholarly Communication, December 5-7, 2007 at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Registration and additional information will be available in August.
- The CARLI Annual Meeting will be held Friday, October 26 in Champaign.
- The Board accepted the annual reports from the Collections Working Group, E-resources Working Group, Preservation Working Group, Public Services Working Group, I-Share Users Group, and the Digital Collections Users Group. The groups were thanked for their work.
Tasks assigned:
- Staff will work with new Board members to identify a date for New Board Members’ Orientation.
- Staff will communicate nominations and timeline to the membership for the special election to fill the community college seat on the Board vacated by the retirement of Eric Welch.
- Staff will work with the Collections Working Group to implement the recommendations from the Collections Awards Task Force.
