Annual Membership Fee

Governing Member

Governing members receive all privileges of Associate & Basic membership, PLUS:

  • May participate in all CARLI products, services, and programs, at fullest level of central support.
  • Priority status on waiting lists to join I-Share and other premium services.
  • Priority enrollment in training sessions.
  • May participate in all CARLI committees, task forces, and user groups.
  • Founding governing members (joining CARLI in FY08) receive special benefits:
      • 10% discount on their CARLI membership fee for FY08
      • Recognition by the CARLI Board

 

The institution must agree to and sign the CARLI Membership Agreement.

Governing membership is available to any eligible library and is required of all libraries participating in I-Share and other CARLI premium services.

Each governing member library has one membership vote.

Between a minimum fee of $750, and a maximum fee of $10,000 per year, annual membership fees for governing members will be calculated by student enrollment and institution type.

Enrollment will be calculated at 50 cents per student FTE (full time equivalents) multiplied by a weighting factor determined by the degree-granting status of the institution:

  • 0.5 – 2-year institutions
  • 1.0 – 4-year and special institutions
  • 2.0 – Master’s granting institutions
  • 4.0 – Doctoral degree institutions

Associate Member

Associate Members receive all privileges of Basic Membership PLUS:

  • Receives access to the Saskia digital image collection.
  • Eligible to participate in CARLI database brokering programs with NO service fees.
  • Eligible to purchase specified resources & services at CARLI consortial prices. These services may be provided without CARLI central support.
  • Eligible to score CARLI collection grants applications.
  • Eligible to participate in CARLI forums & interest groups that are not related to CARLI governance.
  • May be eligible for other programs and services at additional fees.

 

Available to any library not participating in CARLI premium services.

All Associate Member libraries together constitute a “bloc” that elects one Associate member representative to the CARLI Board.
Note: This proposal is pending approval of a Bylaws amendment by the membership.

$500 annual flat fee

Basic Member

Basic Members receive the following privileges:

  • Receives access to resources fully subsidized by the State.
  • Eligible to provide input on decisions related to these subsidized resources.
  • Eligible to participate in CARLI database brokering programs with an additional service fee.
  • Eligible to apply for CARLI collection grants.
  • Eligible for non-priority participation in CARLI training (additional fees may be charged).

 

Available to any library not participating in CARLI premium services.

Not eligible to participate in CARLI governance or voting.

$100 annual flat fee

 

Non-Member

Non-Members receive the following:

  • Access to resources fully subsidized by the State.

Available to any library not participating in CARLI premium services.

Not eligible to participate in CARLI governance or voting.

No fee

 

The CARLI membership structure and fees will be reviewed by the CARLI Board at 2 year intervals.

Premium services are currently: I-Share (Voyager), CONTENTdm, and SFX. Premium services may also carry additional product support assessments.

The CARLI Bylaws state that the institution must be recognized by the IBHE and be an ILLINET member. Other academic or research institutions may petition the CARLI Board for membership. See http://carli.illinois.edu/about/Bylaws-Jan05.pdf
