Decisions:
- Minutes of the January meeting were approved, with corrections.
- Created a Products & Services Vetting Committee (PSVC) to organize receipt, analysis, and recommendation of new ideas, products and services. The Committee will report to the Board. David Carlson agreed to chair the initial PSVC.
- Board discussed and approved the reorganization of the CARLI Committee structure for FY 2007 and charged the staff with bringing revised charges and implementation details to the Board at its May meeting.
- The User Group Committee was discharged with sincere thanks.
- The Fall Membership meeting will be on November 3, 2006 at Elgin Community College.
- 2006/2007 Board meetings will be held every other month, beginning in July, on the third Friday of the month.
- A Board orientation and reception will be held for new and continuing members on July 20, 2006 in Champaign.
- Approved the Membership Committee’s proposed membership structure and process for determining fees for FY 2008, pending any necessary Bylaws changes.
- Approved a proposal to initiate an I-Share membership round for FY 2008.
- Approved revisions to the I-Share Resource Sharing Code.
- Created a Task Force to review and revise resource sharing practices by July, 2007. Kris Hammerstrand will act as staff liaison and Carla Tracy will act as Board liaison.
- Appointed a Nominating Committee, comprising Scott Drone-Silvers, Paula Kaufman, and Carla Tracy, to conduct an election for Board members for terms beginning July 1, 2006. Bernie Sloan will act as staff liaison. Approved election procedures and schedule proposed by staff.
Tasks assigned:
- Staff, in consultation with existing committees and task forces, will draft new charges for all of the new committees, working groups, task forces, special interest groups. The process for forming interest groups will be defined. The reporting requirements, result expectations, and implementation timelines for each entity will be specified. This process will be expedited for the I-Share Users Group.
- Working with the State Library, a broad reevaluation of statewide delivery will begin immediately. A committee will be established by the end of March to oversee the effort. CARLI members and staff will be included.
- A recommendation on the future of the Digital Products Implementation Committee will be brought to the Board at its May meeting.
- An I-Share assessment group will be formed under the auspices of the Finance Committee, with a recommendation for FY 2008 assessments to be submitted to the Board in May. Bernie Sloan will act as staff liaison.
- Staff were asked to develop both generic and institution specific business cases for CARLI membership and its associated fees.
- Letters will be sent to each potential member from the Board detailing the membership structure for FY 2008 and highlighting the benefits of membership.
