Current ILCSO fiscal reserves—when and how to deploy
Participation in the (ILCSO) Voyager ILS in the CARLI era—several issues including:
- What will the membership criteria be
- Will the current license and data conversion subsidies be continued
- Would CARLI consider a distributed server model if it was requested
Issues and options for direct (library to library) and reciprocal (patron-initiated) borrowing in CARLI
- Status of the “ILLINET Online Resource Sharing Code” in the CARLI era
- Terminology—what to call “ILCSO libraries” in WebVoyage, websites, instruction, etc.
Need for CARLI to have a notable early successful project. Ideas included:
- Delivery system enhancements, e.g., guaranteed 2 day delivery between CARLI libraries
- Expanded collection analysis projects
- Preservation assessments
- Purchase
of more subsidized resources such as:
- Online newspapers and backfiles
- Core online reference works
- Ulrich’s serials online
- Expanding Ariel use
Shared services and consulting, such as:
- Peer consulting in various areas, e.g., building/remodeling projects
- Original cataloging, particularly in special formats or languages
- Continuing education
Communications
- Need for CARLI to have a vision statement
- Communicating with CARLI members, establishing recognition and positive image
- Advocacy—demonstrating benefits of consolidation of the 3 organizations
